Goodbye, Google My Business. Hello, Google Business Profile

The time has come! The Google My Business app has been replaced!

At the end of 2021, Google announced that they will change “Google My Business” to “Google Business Profile”. These changes, that are now in effect, introduce a more streamlined process when editing or updating your business’s Google profile. Keeping things simple, changes to your profile are now made directly in Google Search or Google Maps.

Today, the Google My Business app has fully been replaced with Google Maps. If you access your Google profile using the old Google My Business app (the little blue shop icon), remember that you can now edit your profile with the Google Maps app. If Google Maps isn’t already installed on your device, easily add it through Google Play Store (Android) or the App Store (iPhone).

Same goes for desktop or laptop access. Edit your profile through Search or Maps… no need to go through the old Google My Business website.

Is your business on Google?

One of my most simple words of advice for small businesses is get on Google! Google Business Profile is a free tool that will help you reach more people and get more customers! Whether you have a brick and mortar location or not, Google Business Profile is the tool connected to Google Maps and directions, among tons of other features. Display your address to get more foot traffic to your location. If you work from home, or don’t have a physical location, specify which regions you service without displaying an address. Google Business Profile also harbors other business information, like your hours, website link, phone number and Google reviews. It’s a no brainer!
